Camp Good News
Camp Good News is a summer ministry CEF Ontario provides most especially for children living in high risk or high need environments in the GTA. Many of the children who come to camp come from neighbourhoods marked by crime and poverty. The experience of leaving the city for a week at camp is something most of them would not be able to experience without CEF and the individuals who provide financially through sponsorships. It’s a time when these kids can have fun and be ministered to in a healthy non-threatening environment.
In a step of faith we have planned to conduct Camp Good News for two weeks this summer, the last week of July and the first week of August. We have opened the door for children from some of our own regular ministries, as well as from several other churches and ministries meeting the needs of inner-city children.
We can accommodate about 30 children at each week of camp. Because of the profound impact Camp Good News can have on children we are anxious to minister to as many kids as we can handle. Please pray with us that God would work in families and in the hearts of parents, and send us those children He has selected for our two camps this summer. And pray that camp this summer will be a time of blessing and new beginnings for all the children who come. Ivhan Rusli would also appreciate your prayers as he fulfills his responsibilities for the planning and implementation of Camp Good News.
New Staff
Several excellent people have joined or will be joining our staff over the course of this year. We are looking forward to the new ministry opportunities they will create. All of these people are currently raising financial support for their ministry.
Morgan Taylor began working with us part-time on the first of January. She is working alongside the CEF committee in Ottawa to build the various CEF ministries in that area. Morgan will be increasing her work to full time levels as her support allows.
Lineke Nanninga was a CEF staff member in the 1990’s, when she left to move to Holland. On her return to Canada she felt she wanted to re-connect with CEF and will be working part-time in the Niagara region, the area where she used to work.
David Guyatt and Sarah Nydam are both graduates of CEF’s Children’s Ministry Institute and have had continuing involvement with CEF since completing their studies. They plan to join the staff of CEFOntario as a couple following their marriage in May. They will be establishing their home in the Bracebridge area, using that as a base from which to build CEF ministry throughout that region.
We are the process of arranging for a CEF member in Korea to join our staff here in Ontario, to build ministry among the Korean speaking population. There are governmental issues to work through, but things are going well and our hope is to have our colleague with us by September 1.
New Staff
Morgan Taylor, former CEFOntario intern, is joining the staff of CEF and will be working with us in the Ottawa region. Morgan has experience as a CEF summer missionary as well, and comes from a family with a long history of involvement with CEF.
Morgan’s responsibilities will be to help build and facilitate the ministries of CEF in the Ottawa area, as well as being involved directly in ministry to children through Good News Clubs and Party Clubs.
Morgan is currently working to raise her financial support, and will be formally joining the staff of CEFOntario when her support levels permit. Please pray for Morgan as she works through this process and prepares for her ministry with us. If you wish to help with Morgan’s support, please contact our office or send your gifts to CEF Ontario clearly marked “Morgan Taylor Staff Support”.
Care for Kids Campaign
The first phase in the campaign is “The Battle for Children: Is Your Church Winning?” Beginning with a gathering of pastors from the community they will be challenged with the need to examine the effectiveness of their children’s ministries and the efforts being made to reach the children in the surrounding areas.
The second phase of the campaign is “Parents in the Battle for Children” where parents will not only be challenged to take back the spiritual responsibility for children, but also encouraged and equipped with some tools to help them in this battle.
The third phase of this campaign is directed at youth and will challenge them to do missions here in Ontario. Our missions program involves two weeks of intensive training (on how to prepare and teach Bible lessons, memory verses, Bible songs etc.) and then 4-6 weeks in the field in Ontario serving in backyard clubs, 5-day clubs and VBS. Our summer missions program helps young people discover what it means to "walk on water" and to develop their spiritual gifts. It is a life changing experience!
Our Care For Kids Campaign begins this fall with events in Newmarket and Brampton.

Do you share our desire to see ministry to children grow? Would you like to see vision for reaching children increase? Several members of our staff are available to challenge and encourage your congregation, ladies' group, men's group, seniors' group, youth group, or children's workers.. We'd be pleased to share this passion God has given us for the children. Just contact us to arrange a time.
We hope to be in your community soon!
