CEF at the International Plowing Match

Monday, September 15, 2008 saw a host of people waiting at the gate of the farm that hosted the International Plowing Match, in Teeswater, Ontario. The day and night before the area had a torrential downpour making the fields a sea of mud. It was such a mess that any vehicles wanting to get into the Tent City had to be towed by tractor. By the afternoon of the next day due to a good drainage system and warm weather, we were able to walk and drive on dry roads. The weather for the rest of the match was sunny and warm. This year we used an exhibit built around the theme, Moses, Prince of God. Children, youth and adults were invited in to tour the seven stations manned with live actors telling the story of Moses. At each stop not only did they hear the story told in the first person but they also received part of the Gospel message. After receiving their gift pack they then had the option of getting their faces painted.
The Lord poured out His blessing by allowing 2,684 individuals to go through the display and hear the Gospel.
A program of this magnitude takes about 14 workers per day to operate. The Lord gave us a total of 32 workers--some working the whole week, others just one or two days, as they were able. For those workers coming from a distance, other local volunteers provided housing and meals. It was amazing to see people working together and using their gifts and abilities to share God’s Word in this venue.
