SUMMER MINISTRY

This ministry provides an opportunity for young people to do summer missions with CEFOntario in children’s outreaches during the summer months. Before intensive training mission they must successfully complete two weeks of training. They are trained to do games, songs, and Bible based lessons to help children learn good values and morals. The work they do may be done in backyard clubs, Church Day Camps or Vacation Bible schools, fairs, and parks.

The training and camp was one of the best things that has ever happened to me. It helped me have an idea of what to do with my life.

Before the training I was feeling a lot of pressure to figure out what to do with my life and after the training I knew what God had called me to do. I have never felt so close to God all my life.

I had been struggling with how He could love us and still seem so angry and stern at other times...but the 1st day of STI there it was, along with the gold colour, "God Loves YOU, He created you". That may sound simple but it had a BIG meaning in my life.

So thank you so much for everything, the CEF staff have changed my life in a way that I don't think you'll ever fully understand.

Looking back to what God has done, He taught me to trust and have faith in Him. I have learned that at the most 'tragic' times, He was always there supporting me. And that I don't always have to feel God's presence to have a relationship with Him. I have also discovered the power of prayer. I have not put so much dependence on God in all my life until this summer. This summer I really had to depend on Him because I had no idea what to expect, where I was going to sleep for the night and more. And I am thankful that I did because I would not have seen the miraculous work God has done. I have also learned little things like being patient with my partners and to love kids who are difficult.

Coming to CEF this summer was a last minute thing for me. I had no idea what I would do with my summer or what God was going to use me for. But I’m really glad He led me here because He not only taught me so much, He used me to put smiles on the faces of many different children.

One main thing God taught me this summer was to trust Him. I’ve had a week where the max amount of kids at the club was 2 and another week where it was 43. That just made me see that no matter the amount of kids at a club God is working. God is always working.

When I’m not doing the clubs people wonder why I’m in Toronto. I get the opportunity to explain to them that God is using me to help give these kids a real hope in Him. God called me to work with CEF, I’m sure of that. This whole experience has been based completely on trust...trusting God isn’t always easy, but I’ve definitely found that He rewards you when you do.

I had an awesome summer! I feel that God has really challenged me and helped me to grow this summer. This is certainly an experience that will stay with me. It’s an awesome feeling to know that I can go out and reach out to these kids with God’s message.

Sometimes it’s hard for me to see how God is reaching these kids through me because they don’t always find Him, but I know that seeds have been planted in these kids and God will help them grow.

Knowing that 3 kids accepted Jesus as Saviour has made my summer!

Greetings to my brothers and sister in Christ, I served with CEFOntario this summer. I stayed mainly in the Toronto area and I was able to teach about 200 children there. The children there were like children I had only heard about.

I taught Muslim, Hindu, Mormon, Christian, and many other children. I met countless children who suffered from poverty, death, gangs, and divorce. Yet through all of that I was able to see nine children come to know Jesus as their Savior.

This summer, I was sent to a camp, called Smokey trails and this camp was focused on reaching out to native kids. The pain in these children’s lives is more then I could ever imagine seeing in my entire life; but when I looked into these children’s eyes, I could see that they all where in search of something.

They were doing things I would never even think of doing and I did not understand why for the longest time, until one of them told me their life story. They were doing all these things to cover up all the pain in their life and trying to forget about their past, trying to be noticed; but the pain wouldn't leave them. It would stay with them no matter what they did, but when they came to this camp they saw people who cared for them and saw that there was a God that would never leave you no matter how bad they messed up. They saw life in a new way.

All the kids wanted were to have someone there for them, to love them. They found God was the answer and accepted Christ as their Saviour. When that happened that look in their eyes left them and had a new look came into their eyes. "The look of being glad to be alive, the look of finally being loved."

God used me this summer to tell the kids about Christ and to be there for them when they were down and needed to be picked up. Just being there for the kids makes the biggest difference in the world. Every week of camp was a challenge, but every week almost every single kid gave their life to Christ and in one week every kid did give their life to Christ.

Summer of 2005 wasn't just another summer that passed by. It was full of fun memories, lessons learned and changing experiences.

STI brought together an amazing group of teenagers and I was able to learn from everyone. We learned core values on how to

reach all the children whom God loves the most and I personally learned how to trust God wherever He decided to lead me.

I was assigned to places I’ve never heard of in my life, but God worked His amazing ways. And I realized that He used each and every one of the summer missionaries to reach the most unexpected places.

Those hot summer days were at some points, unbearable but to see the little children's faces light up as they heard how much God loved them is worth so much more than I can describe.

I saw God work in awesome ways this summer as He used insignificant people to do such significant things.

What I loved about being a summer missionary was that you were teaching the kids from God's word. You got to teach them truth; truth that can change them, set them free, and truth they can build their lives on. By the end of each week I got to know and love all the kids I taught, and even now, I continue to pray for them.

The other thing that I loved about it was that even while I taught the kids lessons about God's love, strength, and mercy, God was teaching me too about those things.

Summer ministry is so much fun!!! Ever since I have been a CEF summer missionary I have learned a lot and I have felt closer to God. Summer ministry is not only about teaching the kids and leading them to Christ, it's also about you and God. Connecting yourself with God and learning to put your faith in Him.

Being a summer missionary is so much fun and it's so exciting.

I was a summer missionary with CEF for 3 years and I experienced a lot of things; I saw many new things that I have never seen in my life; I met new people and explored different places in Canada; but the best part is the kids. Teaching them about God and sharing the gospel with them.

It's so awesome seeing the children's faces when you tell them about God. The best part is when they finally make the decision of accepting Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. When this happened I felt like I accomplished something, that I had done what God asked me to do. It’s so great teaching kids about God. Teaching them the new songs and playing the games with them. They love you and always want to be near you. This is what God wanted me to do. To spread the gospel to children who were lost to be found.

Summer ministry is so great!
