Tel-A-StORY NOW AVAILABLE ACROSS CANADA.

Every child is the vision of CEFOntario and is shared by CEF Canada. At a recent National Ministries Committee, it was decided to make available across Canada our toll-free telephone ministry – Tel-A-Story. Children across Canada can call 1-877-456-0456 and hear a new story every day. Stories generously provided by CBH Ministries (Grand Rapids, Michigan) provide boys and girls the opportunity to think like Jesus in every day situations. Children listen to a three-minute story and if they have any questions they can press zero and speak to a trained, screened counselor.

Children ask questions about the story, they mostly ask questions about the reality of God and does He really love them and care for them. “The calls from children range from 3 years old to 14 years old,” states Melodie. “We currently receive 2,000 calls per month with 10% of these calls going to a counselor, and the numbers are increasing monthly. Children have so many questions, they want to talk and ask for prayer. We are meeting a need and providing discipleship material to encourage children to have a Biblical worldview.
” The calls that are toll-free to the child are generously supported by churches and individuals who believe that we are making a difference by meeting the spiritual needs of the children. If you would like to donate to Tel-A-Story, contact your local Canadian CEF office or donate on line at Canada Helps. In the meantime share the phone number with a child.

Highlights

One little girl called and asked: "How can I know my name is in God's book in heaven, can I go check?"

A young boy who calls is alone all the time – his mother died and he still grieves. His father works very long hours. He says he cries everyday, but he remembers that God loves him and he memorizes Bible verses. I tried to comfort him and told him that Jesus is with him always, even thought he can’t see Him. I prayed with him on the phone and he prayed with me. He asked if I would be a grandma to him. I said, ‘yes’. Please pray for him.

A girl who had just purchased a new phone wanted to see if it worked, so she called Tel-a-Story. She said she loves Tel-a-Story.

Because the story of the day was about a Grandpa, this child was going to give her Grandpa a little gift the next day. She also asked if I would pray every day for her uncle, her Grandpa, and herself. I promised I would.
